There are three types of bets which can generally be made through betting horses, these three types of bets are win, place or show. To ensure that a win has been placed, the player must choose a horse that comes in through first place in the race; this means the horse must be first while crossing the finish line in order for this particular bet to pay. To place in the race, the horse must finish first or second while taking part in the race and to show, the horse can finish in first, second, or third – therefore increasing the chances of the horse winning through the entire race.
